Born in the Bronx

The Hall of Fame for Great Americans at Bronx Community College, where I played as a kid and got my first taste of higher ed.

I grew up on the Bronx Community College campus, where my mother was Dean. From an early age, I saw what education made possible for her students — many of them immigrants, first-generation, and from a wide range of racial and socioeconomic backgrounds. Her belief in the role institutions play in opening doors for families, and her dedication to that work, continue to inspire me. In her 80s, she’s still advising the Chancellor of the City University of New York (CUNY).

My own path took me to Princeton, then Stanford, then Santa Clara Law. I married an economics professor who teaches at Notre Dame, and our boys later rowed varsity at Princeton.

As an attorney, serving institutions that serve others is personal to me.

For 18 years, I ran investment legal for Notre Dame's endowment as it grew from $5 billion to $22 billion, and I saw what the right legal infrastructure makes possible: faster closes, better terms, and an investment office that moves without hesitation.

But most institutions with portfolios just as complex don't have that.

I founded Endowment Legal Services for them.

Universities growing endowments to fund scholarships and research; healthcare systems whose investment portfolios support patient care; foundations preserving a family's capacity to give for the next hundred years.

Today, my clients collectively manage over $50 billion. Keeping their investments moving at the speed of capital means their returns grow just as fast — and so does their impact.
